UNDP support to the health sector in Limpopo

About the Project

UNDP is supporting the Limpopo Provincial Government to improve the health care services in the province. The health sector in the province has been affected by a chronic deficit of health professionals, as a result of brain drain, due to the remoteness of the region as well as the lack of more attractive incentives that can be found in other regions of the country, and abroad.

 The health sector in this province has also been characterised by a low culture of volunteerism amongst health professional, and therefore, requires the M&E system to improve on the strategic planning processes and accountability.

 The overall scope of the programme of support is:

  • Strategic planning;
  • Capacity building and skills transfer;
  • Knowledge management; and
  • Monitoring and evaluation, including the domestication of MDGs within the health sector.
